Important Notes

Growth projections assume a consistent compounding rate and may not reflect algorithm changes, seasonal trends, or viral events. Strategy multipliers are estimates based on industry data. Platform monetization requirements may change — always verify current thresholds directly with each platform.

How the Formula Works

Formula
Projected Subscribers = Current × (1 + Monthly Growth Rate)^Months Months to Goal = log(Target / Current) / log(1 + Growth Rate) Revenue at Goal = Projected Subscribers × Platform RPM / 1,000 × Monthly Views per Subscriber

Variables

Monthly Growth RateCompound monthly growth rate (CMGR) — use your trailing 3-month average for accuracy
Months to GoalTime to reach a subscriber milestone at current growth rate
Revenue at GoalEstimated monthly revenue when you hit the target subscriber count

Worked Example

Channel at 10,000 subscribers growing at 8% per month: after 12 months = 10,000 × (1.08)^12 = 25,182 subscribers. At $4 RPM with 3 views/subscriber/month: $302/month revenue.

What Growth Rate is Realistic?

For established channels (1K+), 5–15% monthly growth is strong. New channels in a good niche can grow 20–50% monthly in the first 6 months through keyword-optimized content and trend riding. Growth rates always slow as channels get larger — a 10% monthly rate on 10,000 subs adds 1,000 subs; the same rate on 1M adds 100,000.

Monetization Milestones

YouTube Partner Program requires 1,000 subscribers + 4,000 watch hours. TikTok Creator Fund requires 10,000 followers. Instagram badges require 10,000 followers. But the most important milestone is your first 1,000 true fans — a small number of highly engaged followers can generate meaningful income through direct support before you hit any platform threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Growth varies enormously. Most channels grow slowly (1–3% monthly) until they find their niche and content rhythm. Channels that identify a high-demand, low-supply topic and publish consistently see 10–30% monthly growth. Viral videos can cause 5–50× subscriber spikes, but sustainable growth comes from consistent value delivery, not viral luck.
